Gilbert Chinese Church BELIEF

Section 1 Bibliology We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God, being inerrant in the original text, and are the foundation of and the supreme authority of Christian faith, service and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:20-21, Deut. 12:31, Ps. 119)
Section 2 Theology We believe in the one and only God, who is never changing, absolutely holy and eternally existing in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), who created the universe and is the beginning of all things. (Ex. 3:14, Ps. 33:9, Lev. 11:45, Jn. 17:3, Matt. 3:16-17, Matt. 28:19, Acts 17:24-28, Ps. 36:9)
Section 3 Christology We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, Word becoming flesh and absolutely sinless. He was crucified on the cross for the sin of mankind, and bled and died to save those who believed in Him. He was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended to Heaven, sitting on the right hand of God, praying for the believers and someday He will return to judge the world. (Jn. 3:16, Matt. 3:17, Matt. 1:18-25, Jn. 1:14, 1 Jn. 3:5, Lk. 23:33-46, Lk. 24:46, 1 Jn. 2:2, Acts 1:3, Rom. 8:34, 1 Tim. 2:5, 2 Tim. 4:1)
Section 4 Pneumatology We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to reprove the world of sin and lead mankind to repentance. Moreover, the Holy Spirit will enable all believers to be born again, sanctified, comforted and sealed. Furthermore, He is to guide the believers to understand truth and provide spiritual gifts and power to believers to do God’s work. (Jn.15:26, Jn. 16:13-14, Jn. 16:8, Jn. 3:5-6, Titus 3:5, 2 Thess. 2:13, 1 Pet. 1:2, Eph. 1:13-14, Jn. 14:16, 1 Cor. 12:4-11, Eph. 4:11-12) We believe that God is still performing miracle to show His glory and mercy today. We believe that the work of the Holy Spirit will not contradict the teaching of the Scriptures. Therefore, whenever we exercise the spiritual gifts, we must obey the teaching of the Scriptures. God wants us to conduct meetings in order, for God is not of disorder but of peace. We should have faith in God and should submit to His sovereignty in everything. To keep church unity and edify all believers, we do not exercise or teach controversial 4 spiritual gifts in church meetings, e.g. speaking in tongue, prophesying, forcing miraculous healing and casting demon, and other controversial spiritual gifts. (Mk. 10:27, Jn. 14:13, 2 Tim. 2:13, 1 Cor. 14:40, 1 Cor. 14:32-33, Phil. 4:6-7, 2 Cor. 12:9-10, Matt. 26:39, Matt. 6:33)

Section 5 Anthropology and Soteriology We believe God created man in His own image. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sinned and fell from the glory of God, and thereby separated themselves from God and brought death to mankind. Man is not and will not be able to save himself. The only way to be saved is to trust in the salvation of Jesus Christ by faith. Because the redemption of Jesus Christ had made those who trusted in Him forever saved, the Holy Spirit will never forsake believers, and the love of God will never leave believers; therefore the salvation, the sanctification and the glorification of believers are all God’s grace. (Gen. 1:26, Gen. 3:6, Rom. 5:12, Rom. 3:10-12, Gal. 2:16, Heb. 10:14, Jn. 14:16, Heb. 7:25, Rom. 8:38-39, Eph. 2:8-9)

Section 6 Ecclesiology We believe that the Church is the house of God and the body of Christ with Christ being the head and all believers being the various members of the body. The members work together to serve God. According to the Scriptures, the era of the Church started in the Festival of Pentecost after Jesus ascended to the heaven, and the overall Church includes all born again believers of yesterday, today and the future. The Great Commission for the Church is to preach the Gospel to the world and make disciples of Jesus Christ. (1 Tim. 3:15, 1 Cor. 12:27, Col. 1:18, 1 Cor. 12:13, Eph. 4:15-16, Acts 2:1-4, 1 Thess. 4:17, Matt. 28:18-20)
Section 7 Eschatology We believe Jesus Christ will return to judge the world according to His promise. Jesus will come again in person from heaven and take the Church, which is all born-again Christians on earth up to the cloud to meet with Him in the sky, and then return to heaven. After the Church has been removed from earth, God will pour His wrath unto the world for seven years. At the end of the great tribulation, Lord Christ will descend to earth with all the holy ones to carry out judgement to the world and set up the millennial kingdom on earth. At the end of the millennial kingdom, God will dissolve the world and create a new heaven and new earth after the great white throne judgement. Then, all men, good or evil, will be resurrected to be judged in the Last Days. All who have believed will receive eternal life in the new heaven and new earth and all who have not believed will fall into eternal condemnation in the lake of fire. (1 Thess. 4:16-17, 1 Cor. 15:51-52, Jn. 14:3, Rev. chapters 6-18, Matt. 25:31-32, Rev. 20:6, 2 Pet. 3:12, Jn. 5:29, Rev. 21:1-5, Rom. 8:38-39)
Section 8 Marriage We believe that marriage was instituted by God with the purposes of showing God’s glory, blessing husbands and wives, testifying the relation between Christ and the Church, and raising godly descendants. Therefore, God’s ordained marriage is a combination of a man and a woman according to the gender of their birth, and a lifetime covenant committed to each other as husband and wife. We believe that the journey of marriage is challenging, but God’s grace is sufficient. (Gen. 2:18-25, Gen. 1:27-28, Eph. 5:21-33, 2 Cor. 12:9-10)

Section 9 Women Ministry We believe that in Christ, brothers and sisters are equal in redemption, calling, and receiving spiritual gift and heavenly inheritance. Both brothers and sisters are called to serve God and men, and the Holy Spirit also distributes spiritual gifts to brothers and sisters just as He determines. However, the Scriptures teach us, because of the order of creation and the 5 arrangement of functions, the duties of pastor, elder and bishop are reserved for the brethren. God has entrusted the spiritual leadership to the brethren; this is the case in marriage and in the church. Therefore, the brethren should follow the example of Christ’s service to serve and lead the church. And the sisters should serve in the church with the obedience to this God-ordained authority. (Gal. 3:28, 1 Cor. 12:11, 1 Tim. 2:12-14, 1 Tim. 3:2, Titus 1:6, Eph. 5:22-25, 1 Cor. 11:5, 10)
